In their healing ceremonies, the Kazakh shamans use singing and musical instruments — the hand drum, the kobyz and the shan-kobyz. These instruments are said to chase out evil spirits, death and sickness. In order to increase the impact and the acoustic effect of the sound and to achieve the desired state of mind in the person to be healed, these healing ceremonies are often conducted in caves, or sometimes the head of the person is covered with a metal bucket.
